Effective Date: [Enter Date, e.g., August 1, 2026]

The Alligator Labs ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application, GPS Speedometer: HUD & Tracker (the "App").

By installing and using the App, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Information We Collect & Permissions We Request
To provide you with the App's core features—such as real-time speed tracking, route mapping, and over-speed alerts—we request specific Android permissions. We only collect data necessary for the App to function properly.

A. Location Data (Core Functionality)
The App relies heavily on GPS to calculate your speed, track your distance, and draw your route on the map.

ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION & ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION: Allows the App to access your precise GPS location and approximate network location to accurately calculate your driving, cycling, or walking speed.

FOREGROUND_SERVICE_LOCATION & FOREGROUND_SERVICE: Allows the App to continue tracking your speed and distance in the background via a persistent notification. This ensures your trip log is not interrupted if you turn off your screen or switch to a navigation app.

B. Device & System Permissions

SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW (Display Over Other Apps): This permission allows the App to display a floating speedometer widget or HUD overlay on top of other navigation apps (like Google Maps) so you can monitor your speed while navigating.

POST_NOTIFICATIONS: Allows us to send you push notifications, such as over-speed warnings, trip summaries, and important app updates.

VIBRATE: Used to provide physical haptic feedback, such as vibrating your phone when you exceed your set speed limit.

INTERNET & ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Required to download live map data, street views, real-time traffic updates, serve advertisements, and send crash reports.

C. Automatically Collected Technical Data
When you use the App, we automatically collect specific non-personal technical data via third-party SDKs to ensure the app functions correctly, including:

Device model, manufacturer, and Operating System version.

Advertising ID (Google Ad ID) for serving targeted ads.

App crash logs, performance data, and usage metrics.

2. Third-Party Services and SDKs
We use trusted third-party services to provide core functionalities, analyze app performance, and serve advertisements. These third-party services may collect and process data in accordance with their own privacy policies:

Google Play Services & Google Maps: Used to render maps, street views, and location tracking. Google Privacy Policy

Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics (Google): Used to analyze how users interact with the App and to log app crashes so we can fix bugs and improve performance. Firebase Privacy Policy

OneSignal: Used to manage and deliver push notifications (e.g., speed alerts, update announcements). OneSignal may collect device identifiers and location data to optimize notification delivery. OneSignal Privacy Policy

Advertising Networks (Google AdMob): We use third-party ad networks to display advertisements in the App. These networks may collect your Advertising ID and IP address to serve personalized or non-personalized ads. Google AdMob Privacy Policy

3. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information for the following purposes:

To operate the App: Calculate real-time speed, record trip history, and display floating widgets.

To ensure safety: Trigger visual, audio, or vibration alerts when you exceed your configured speed limit.

To improve the App: Analyze crash reports and user interactions to fix bugs and enhance features.

To communicate with you: Send essential push notifications regarding your trips or app updates via OneSignal.

To serve advertisements: Display ads that keep the App free to use.

4. Advertising and Opting Out
We use mobile advertising identifiers (such as the Google Advertising ID) to deliver relevant ads. You can control how these identifiers are used directly from your Android device settings:

Go to Settings > Google > Ads.

Select "Opt out of Ads Personalization" or "Delete advertising ID."

5. Data Retention and Deletion
Local Data: Your personal trip logs, speed history, and saved routes are stored locally on your device. We do not upload or store your personal trip history on our servers. If you uninstall the App or clear the App's data, this history will be permanently deleted.

Analytics Data: De-identified crash logs and performance analytics collected by Firebase are retained according to Google’s data retention policies.

If you wish to request the deletion of any identifiable data collected by our third-party notification or analytics providers, please contact us at the email provided below.

6. Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will immediately delete such data from our systems.

7. Security
We value your trust in providing your information, and we strive to use commercially acceptable means of protecting it. However, please remember that no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Effective Date" at the top. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
